The Rocky Mountains or Rockies are a large mountain range in western Canada and the USA. This range covers many states and provinces from British Columbia in the north to New Mexico in the south. In between are the states of Alberta, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Utah and Colorado. This area provides a winter paradise for all kinds of sporting activities and recreation.
The skiing opportunities in this area is are wide and varied with the regeneration of small mining towns and villages to provide a much needed boost to the local economies. So much has been spent on these ski resorts that is has become the playground of the rich and famous as well as a magnet for winter sports enthusiast from around the globe.
Key to the success, apart from the size, is the predictability of the snow conditions and the sheer amount of fresh snow that drops from the sky on an annual basis. This makes the Rocky Mountains a prime place to consider when planning your winter vacation.
